All signs pointed to FALL!

Greetings Readers!

I recently signed up for National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) through BlogHer, a media company specialized in blogging and social media. Basically all this means is that I have to publish a blog post everyday throughout the month of October, except Saturday’s and Sunday’s. The theme this month is simply: FALL. I am going to try my best to stick with the theme, which should be fairly easy since I’m a fan of the current season. If, however, I am lacking inspiration I can refer to one of the organization’s writing prompts, but for the most part, the Banter will be Banter as usual. So don’t get all freaked out on me. Sit back, relax, and enjoy getting to hear read my voice more often. My posts will undoubtedly be shorter – I do have a life you know – but I am looking forward to continued growth as a writer and challenging myself to a new blogging adventure. I have no idea what blogging every day will be like, but I do know that every single time I write, I learn something new. I’m excited to see what it will be this month. Now come on everybody, FALLow along with me!

Day One: Tuesday, October 1, 2013

All signs pointed me to sign up for NaBloPoMo this October.

The first sign, though I didn’t know it at the time, was buying wooden letters at Hobby Lobby to make a decoration for our front door. I bought the letters F-A-L-L. When I got home I outlined the letters with a brown sharpie, drew some polka dots on them in fall colors, and then let Lance color all over them any which way he wanted.

Not quite sure what I would do with them next, I decided to have Jan & Lance drill holes in them. Afterward, I strung them together vertically with string. They are currently hanging on the door now, but I need to add some more flair and secure them a little better. Not sure what I might add. Maybe leftover ornamental leaves, maybe some ribbon, maybe something that requires a glue gun… who knows? This project is already beyond my craft level.

Then, also coincidentally, I titled my last blog post Falling back. I wrote about falling back into a routine and into myself since Vivian was born. I wrote about my love for fall as I recounted how much I wrote about fall last year and how I would probably be doing much of the same gushing about all things fall again this year. I wrote and took pictures of the ornamental fall leaves I strung in our living room. Mind you, this was all before I even heard anything or read about NaBloPoMo, let alone the theme.

The last sign, though much more subtle, came in the form of renewed motivation and energy toward writing over the last few weeks. I’m discovering I have not only desire, but room and time for exploring this interest. My kids are on a good schedule (for the moment), and I’ve come into some free mind space that I’m yearning to exercise and maintain through a daily writing practice. And then yesterday I saw it. Right there on BlogHer. A call for participants to join NaBloPoMo. The theme? FALL. So on a whim, although signs did lead me there, I added Britta’s Banter to the blogroll. Then I quickly realized, oh shit it starts tomorrow. Which is actually now today.

On that note, I better stop here. I’ve got 22 more days of blogging this month.

But before I go, I just cannot resist.
