Pumpkin without a face

Greetings Readers!

I recently signed up for National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) through BlogHer, a media company specialized in blogging and social media. Basically all this means is that I have to publish a blog post everyday throughout the month of October, except Saturday’s and Sunday’s. The theme this month is simply: FALL. I have no idea what blogging every day will be like, but I do know that every single time I write, I learn something new. I’m excited to see what it will be this month. Now come on everybody, FALLow along with me!

From a pumpkin face brownie on Friday to a pumpkin without a face on Monday, October marches on. We got our first pumpkin about a week ago, but are waiting until just before Halloween to carve our 2013 pumpkin. We’ll I’ll probably only carve one this year and save multiple jack-o-lantern carving until the kids can do their own.

A pumpkin without a face.

A pumpkin without a face.

Look at this face!

Look at this face!

Vivian has been basking in the spot light of center stage since Friday. Lance is with grandparents, and it’s been awfully quiet around here…

Sweet moments with Vivian have been special. She’s a happy little girl, and now that she’s feeling better, she is as playful as ever. Jan & I had fun clowning around and amusing her with all the silly baby games that we used to do with Lance. Where is your head? How big is Vivian? If you’re happy and you know it… Bye bye!

Peek-a-boo! I see you!

On Saturday evening we attended Oktoberfest in the Fellowship Hall of our church, complete with an oompah band. How cool is that?! The folks in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Germans in general would be impressed. Although Jan loves to remind Americans that many locals actually leave Munich during Oktoberfest to avoid all the melee and over six million drunk tourists who flood the city every year.

Ahh well, we embraced the German culture in our own small corner of the world as we linked arms with fellow Lutherans and swayed to the rhythmical sounds of a brass band. I’ll raise a beer to that.

We sure do miss this guy.

Happy Monday. May the start of a new week fill you with possibilities.
